Is LITTLE POMPEJI right for you?

We would rather tell you honestly what to expect here — and what not to expect.

Are children welcome?
No. LITTLE POMPEJI is an adults-only house, minimum age 16. There are no exceptions to this, because it is the reason for the calm our guests come here for.

​

Are you directly on the beach?
No. There are 250 metres between us and the white sand of Jambiani — a walk of about three minutes straight through the village. If you want to step out of bed and into the sea, a beachfront resort will suit you better. If you want to experience Zanzibar rather than just look at it, you will enjoy that walk.

Is there entertainment or a water sports centre?
No. We have seven rooms, a tropical garden, a pool and our own restaurant and bar — à la carte breakfast, a light lunch menu, Pasta O'Clock and our cheese fondue. What you will not find here: an entertainment programme, announcements, a choice of restaurants or a pool bar with music. That is intentional.

Is there anything going on in the evenings?
Jambiani is a quiet fishing village. After sunset it falls still. For nightlife and parties, Paje or Kendwa and Nungwi in the north are the right address.

Is reception staffed around the clock?
No. We are a small, personally run house. During the day someone is always there for you, and at night you can reach us in an emergency — but we do not offer round-the-clock service the way a large hotel does.

2. Payment, Cancellation

Which payment methods are accepted?

• Cash, Credit card (e.g., Mastercard, Visa)

• A 70% deposit is required to confirm your reservation, payable via PesaPal.

• For bookings made more than 30 days before arrival: the deposit is due 30 days prior to arrival.

• For bookings made within 30 days of arrival: the deposit is due immediately at the time of booking.

• The remaining 30% is due on arrival, payable in cash (USD) or by card.

Are there any additional taxes or fees I need to pay?

• Yes. In addition to the room rate, the Government of Zanzibar charges an Infrastructure Tax of USD 5 per person per night. This tax is shown separately on our invoice, but is already included in the total price stated on the invoice. We collect the tax on behalf of the Zanzibar Revenue Authority and remit it accordingly. Therefore, no additional payment for this tax is required upon arrival or departure.

Is there a refund policy for cancellations?

• Free cancellation up to 30 days before arrival.

• Cancellations between 7 and 29 days before arrival: 50% of the total booking amount applies as a cancellation fee.

• Cancellations less than 7 days before arrival: the full booking amount applies.

• No-shows without prior cancellation: no refund.

• Non-payment: If the deposit is not received by the due date, the reservation will be automatically cancelled without further notice.

3. Stay & Service

What meal options are available?

• Generous breakfast (à la carte, included) from 7:30 to 11:30 am.

• From 2:00 to 8:30 pm, enjoy our fine Light Lunch Menu featuring fresh salads, delicious small bites, PASTA O’CLOCK and various daily specials.

• A taste of Switzerland in Zanzibar! Authentic Swiss cheese fondue, subject to availability.

• Alternatively, enjoy Fondue Chinoise with beef and/or chicken, rice and a selection of sauces.

Is there a laundry service?
Yes, we work with an external laundry service.

 

Are pets allowed?
No

 

Do you offer airport transfers?

• Yes, we offer airport transfers (for a fee of $50).

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas.
