Why Jambiani — and not Nungwi or Kendwa

When people think of Zanzibar, they usually think of Nungwi first. White sand, turquoise water, beach bars until midnight. For some, that's perfect. For us — and for our guests — it isn't.
Nungwi and Kendwa are loud, crowded and increasingly overrun by mass tourism. If you're looking for genuine rest, real connection with the island, quiet mornings and a sunset without a crowd, you're in the wrong place there.
Jambiani is different. This village on the east coast is calm, authentic and still untouched by the tourism industry at large. The lagoon at low tide is a natural spectacle — shallow, warm water stretching as far as you can see. In the evenings, you hear the waves, not the music from the bar next door.
We chose Jambiani deliberately — as a Swiss couple who see Zanzibar not as a backdrop, but as home. LITTLE POMPEJI Villa sits right in this village, directly on the Indian Ocean, adults only. Guests who come tend to stay longer than planned.
Jambiani isn't for everyone. But for the right people, it's exactly right.
